The university has a wide range of agricultural-related courses and offers the following programs:

✓Bachelor of Animal Science (Fulltime/Distance).
✓Bachelor of Aquaculture and Fisheries Science (Distance).
✓Bachelor of Agriculture with Education
(Distance).
✓Diploma in Animal Production (Full-time/Distance).
✓Certificate in Livestock Production -TEVETA (full time).
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have five (5) Credits or Better in English, Mathematics, and Science subjects.

Palabana university fees

Fees depend on the program and whether a student is a boarder or day scholar. Fees range from K6500 for diplomas per semester to K10,600 for degree programs.

Is Palabana University a government institution?


Yes. Palabana University is a government-owned institution. The Palabana Dairy Training Institute is where Palabana University (PU) got its start. 

It has been around since 1965 and has given farmers, agriculture extension workers, students, and non-school dropouts hands-on training. 

The university upgraded from its early diploma and certificates to degree programs in the year 2022. 

Many farmers in the animal and milk production farms come to Palabana for short training. 

The university is known for having the best milk production training and it has a milking center where major companies collect milk for processed food production.

Are bursaries available at Palabana University? 

Bursary is available in most higher learning institutions including Palabana University. 
The university got affiliated with the Higher Education Loans and Sponsorship Board (HELSB) in 2022 though the implementation started in 2023.

Who is eligible for bursary?


For students to qualify for a bursary here are the specifications

Applicants should be: 
(i) Zambians with Green National Registration Cards (NRC)

(it) School leavers admitted to Palabana University for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

(iii) School leavers who completed Grade 12 in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023

(iv) 24 years old or below by August, 2024

How to apply for a bursary

Applicants should submit the following: 

a) An application letter responding to the advertisement;
A photocopy of the 2024/2025 academic year Admission Letter from Palabana University;
A photocopy of the Grade 12 Statement of Results or Certificate;

Note that each adverty by HELSB comes with qualification requirements.
